Finnish lions (MD 107) invite foreign students, born 1.7.1990 – 30.6.1995 (16 – 21 years) to participate in the Youth Exchange (YE) program in Finland  in summer  2011.

The exchange period will consists of a family stay and for most of the students  also  a camp.  The Finnish YE camps have places for about 120 campers.  The duration of the YE, including the camp, is about 3 weeks for  European youths and about 5 weeks for non-Europeans. The family stay is mainly before the camp but can also be partially after the camp. Finnish Lions also offer only family hosting in districts where  there is no camp.

The program is principally carried out on a reciprocal basis.  The number of  students to be sent to each destination  shall be mutually agreed  with the YCED Tuula Rantaeskola or with the Finnish District YCEC in question by the end of November 2010.

All applications from students wishing to apply for Finland must be dealt with by local Lions Clubs.  Applications shall be sent by a nominated District YCEC or the MD-YCEC of the country / state concerned to YCED Tuula Rantaeskola by the end of February 2011. Finnish camp organizations do not handle applications. It is recommended that electronic applications be used. English is the required language to be used.

We prefer the European format of  the application, available at  "Application Form to Finland 2011" or from YCED Tuula Rantaeskola. In the case of hand written forms an attached supplement with typed names and contact information should  be included or sent separately. The applications  can be sent by e-mail for  pre-acceptance.

All camps are absolutely non-alcoholic and the use of narcotics is strictly forbidden.

Smoking must be stated in the application form.
