The camp will take place in Southwestern Finland in the town of Somero. Distances from Helsinki are 105 km, from Turku 86 km, and from Tampere 125 km. The campers will stay at Lamminniemi Well-being Centre abt. 1 km from Somero centre. Lamminniemi provides double bedrooms with own bathrooms. Many outdoor and indoor activities may be practised in Lamminniemi and the building includes rooms for parties, gym, sauna and swimming etc. Breakfast is also served at Lamminniemi. The dates for the camp are 1.7.2010 - 10.7.2010. Somero Summer Festival week is celebrated at the same time. The camp can accommodate 20 campers. Organizing and responsible bodies Lions International MD 107 together with District A as well as Lions Club Somero and Lions Club Somero/Paratiisi are the responsible organizers of the camp. The protector of the camp is minister of culture Stefan Wallin. The theme is "Culture in the Countryside". Our aim is to show international youths that even in an outlying country such as Finland live people in the countryside who are active in farming, manufacturing and business as well as in different forms of art such as music, theatre, visual arts, and handicrafts. On the other hand we will show the campers the nature of southwestern Finland and it's archipelago as well as the ancient history of Finland that can be seen in Turku, the oldest town in Finland. MD 107 FINLAND - YOUTH CAMP AND EXCHANGE PROGRAM
Year 2010
Finnish lions (MD 107) invite foreign students, born 1.7.1989 –
30.6.1994 (16 – 21 years to participate in the Youth Exchange (YE)
program in Finland summer 2010. The
program consists of family stay and a camp or of family stay only.
The Finnish YE camps have places for about 145 campers, winter camp
not included. Duration of the
YE, including the camp, is about 3 weeks for the European youths and about
5 weeks for non-European youths. Family stay is mainly before camp but can
be partially after camp. Finnish Lions offer also only family hosting in
districts where is no camp. The program is principally carried out on the reciprocal basis.
Agreements of the numbers of the students to be sent to each
direction shall be agreed mutually with the MD-YC Jari Rytkonen or with a
country coordinator designated amongst the District YCEC’s in Finland.
The agreements should be done by the end of November 2009. All
applications shall be done via a local Lions Club of the student wishing
to apply for Finland. The
applications shall be sent by a nominated District YCEC or the MD-YCEC of
the country / state concerned. All
applications shall be sent to MD-YC Jari Rytkonen by the end of February
2010 (Finnish camp organizations do not handle applications) excluding

applications to be filled in form which is widely accepted in Europe. It

or from MD-YC Jari Rytkonen. In the case of the hand written forms an
attached supplement with typed names and contact information shall be
included or sent separately. Electrically compiled and handled
applications are highly recommended.
They can be sent by e-mail for a pre-acceptance. All
camps are absolutely non-alcoholic and using of narcotics is strictly
